American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Critical Access Hospital in a resort town, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience with a strong ortho background and prior travel experience.
Details- Acute care setting in an OR department at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
- Facility is located in a resort town with a fast-paced surgical environment heavily focused on orthopedics, sports medicine, and robotics
- OR consists of 4 surgical suites plus 1 endoscopy suite, averaging 8 cases per day
- Common cases include ortho (total joints, sports med, hands, and trauma), general surgery, GYN, C-sections, and endoscopy
- Charting is performed in Epic; TDOC is used for instrument tracking; ProVation is used by providers for endoscopy
- Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shifts from 0700–1530
- Weeknight call runs from 1530–0700 the following morning, typically 4 weeknights per month (may increase with staffing changes)
- Weekend call is typically 1 full weekend per month from 0700 Saturday through 0700 Monday
- Holiday call may be assigned if a holiday falls during the contract period
- The OR team is expected to cover endoscopy as part of floating responsibilities
- Scrubbing by RNs is not required; CSTs and scrubbing RNs are available, along with orderlies for room turnover
- All OR personnel are required to assist with cleaning and room turnover alongside the orderly team
- Active Idaho (ID) or Compact RN license required — must be active at time of consideration, pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum of 3 years of OR experience required
- Strong orthopedic surgery background required
- Endoscopy experience required
- C-section experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS recommended
- Epic EMR experience
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Must be able to remain within 30 minutes of the hospital at all times while on call
- Travelers are paired with a preceptor for unit-specific orientation, including unit norms and system values; orientation is 5 days
- Blue scrubs are provided per surgical services attire policy; appropriate OR shoes are required
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- This is an 8-week assignment
