American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a minimum of 2 years of recent specialty experience for a night shift travel contract requiring both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) RN licensure.
Details- Level II and Level III NICU setting with 20 beds and an average daily census of 6.9
- Patient population includes neonates across all gestational age ranges: under 24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and over 34 weeks
- Specialized procedures include ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), Bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, UAC/UVC care, arterial line management, central line care, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Additional clinical skills include neonatal sepsis and sepsis workup, NAS management, APGAR scoring, phototherapy, blood and blood product administration, neonatal dosage calculations, and phlebotomy
- Attendance at high-risk deliveries required
- Charting performed in Epic
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts (Friday and/or Saturday night) per 6-week schedule, plus 2 Sunday nights per 6-week schedule
- On-call requirement: two 12-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating may be required to the well baby nursery, L&D for deliveries, and between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri (or a compact license) must be in hand at time of consideration — unwillingness to float across state lines may result in cancellation
- Current certifications required: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU specialty experience required
- Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months, with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
- Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- SSN required for consideration
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Travel partners are not accepted
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the contract duration
- RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of consideration
- Scrubs are navy blue; scrubs are provided only for charge nurses and transition/baby catcher nurses — all other travelers are responsible for their own navy blue scrubs
- Onboarding modules are required and must be completed prior to the start date
- No pending licenses accepted — all required licenses must be active and in hand
