American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.
Details- Med/Surg unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
- Average daily census of 21 patients
- Every other weekend is required
- Floating is required to other Med/Surg and like units, including affiliate hospitals nearby
- Charting is done in Cerner
- No on-call requirements
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- 13-week contract
- Active Illinois (IL) RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required — AHA and Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of 5 days or fewer is generally accommodated; anything beyond 5 days requires facility approval
- Scrub color: any solid color
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
- Preferred skills include: telemetry/remote monitoring, rapid response team experience, post-angiogram and post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, colostomy and feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, PICC line management, heparin/insulin/PCA medication administration, CVA and pre/post neuro-surgical care, ortho trauma, surgical drain management, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, wound care/wound VAC, and isolation precautions
- Cerner experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
