American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and the ability to manage high-acuity obstetric patients.
Details- Level III NICU-affiliated Labor & Delivery unit in a hospital setting — the only Level III NICU within a 350-mile radius
- Unit includes 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED/triage beds, and 4 antepartum rooms
- Patient population includes high-risk to low-intervention laboring patients, antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and newborns
- Patient ratios: Antepartum 1:3, Inactive Labor 1:2, Active Labor 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet Care 1:3 couplets
- Skills performed include IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, C-section circulating, and C-section recovery care
- EMR: Epic (experience strongly preferred; candidates without Epic experience require manager approval)
- 12-hour variable shifts (0630 or 1830 start times); must be available to work both days and nights throughout the contract
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Active RN license issued by or valid in South Dakota (SD state license or Compact license) required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, inpatient obstetrics certification, electronic fetal monitoring certification, or inpatient antepartum certification
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required, preferably at a Level III or higher L&D unit
- Experience managing high-acuity labor patients required, including preeclampsia, preterm labor and delivery, and management of patients less than 35 weeks gestation
- Ability to provide postpartum/couplet care required
- Level 2 nursery experience highly preferred
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; candidates without it require manager approval
- Graduation from a board of nursing-approved nursing education program required
- Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
- Nurses will be required to care for postpartum/couplet patients throughout the contract
- Orientation consists of 4 days with a preceptor — 3 days in L&D and 1 day in postpartum
- Unit support includes a unit secretary, scrub tech, charge nurse, VAT team, RT (24/7), OB physician team, and anesthesia/CRNA
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Time off requests require manager approval
- Cobalt blue scrubs required; provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
