American Leadership Academy
is currently accepting applications for a School RN (K-12) for the 2026-2027 school year at our new Radiance campus located in Apache Junction, AZ. This position will service K-12, and will be stationed at the high school. Candidates must possess, or be willing to obtain, a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Upholds professional standards, laws pertaining to health and/or nursing care and district policies
  • Based upon assignment, acts as lead for High Schools and the elementary campuses within the district
  • Maintains campus health office compliance through monthly and quarterly compliance checks
  • Oversees health staff in the assigned district, including assigning and monitoring work; ensuring training; OSHA Compliance, and resolving medical conflicts.
  • Provide input on Health Aide performance evaluations to the applicable director. Provide technical evaluations routinely and document progress. Reports concerns to the applicable campus directors.
  • Reinforces protocols, policies and procedures by working with health service personnel, teachers, and administrators in the implementation of the health program in the assigned District.
  • Collaborates with parents, school staff, and other health care providers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for related school activities.
  • Develops a health care plan detailing medical intervention that may be required to safely manage a child while at school.
  • Utilizes established nursing process to assess, analyze, plan, implement, record, and evaluate all nursing care.
  • Participate and offer suggestions and feedback for 504 and IEP plans with medical components within the assigned district. Complete health trainings required in student IEPs.
  • Maintain and update “Medical Condition Lists” for each school throughout the year which is provided to teachers and teacher substitutes to share medical needs of the students on campus.
  • Assist with review and funneling students with chronic illnesses to the appropriate programs. Provide Homebound and chronic illness referral paperwork. Communicate program acceptance and needs with the appropriate disciplines.
  • Assists with coordination and implementation of state-required screenings and determining referral needs.
  • Collect pertinent data needed to submit the State Immunization Data Reports on an annual basis or as otherwise required by the state.
  • Collect and input pertinent data needed to submit the State Hearing or other required screening reports on an annual basis. (state specific)
  • Administers first aid in accordance with established school district first aid procedures. Provides physical assessments of children on an as-needed basis.
  • Assists the Divisions Assistant Director of Health Services in coordinating student CPR requirements (state specific)
  • Identify and report suspected child abuse, substance abuse and neglect per applicable laws and school district policies.
  • Mental health will be managed primarily by the parents. RNs will assist in connecting families to external supports as needed. Emergent situations will be managed by contacting crisis lines or the local police dept as needed. RN will train the staff within their district on emergent mental health policy and procedures.
  • Sustain community partnerships for mental health services, referrals, follow-up, and care plans of students/families.
  • Implements school policies regarding communicable disease and infection including exclusions and readmission of students, under the direction of the State and County Health Departments.
  • Plan and present annual district staff in-service training sessions which include determining topics, speakers, and locations. Manage and update training records. Provide annual Health Aide skills training and review.
  • Sit in on Health Aide Interviews with campus directors for assigned campuses. Assist with selecting and training new Health Aides within the assigned district.
  • Manage Daily staffing for all health offices throughout the assigned District. RN will cover assigned campus health office vacancies. In the event, there are multiple absences they will work with the campus directors to ensure a staffing plan.
  • Oversee health office inventory and yearly catalog orders. Ensure supplies are the approved minimal supplies needed to meet state and federal requirements. Ensure quantities do not exceed the indicated 30-day periodic replenishment levels.
  • Review, record, and file all accident reports, and submit the most urgent cases to District Health Office for review.
  • Advise campus directors on Weather Heat Index and appropriate interventions
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and make sound judgments and decisions in a wide variety of situations under pressure
  • Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, procedures, regulations, and rules


Required Qualifications:

  • Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint card
  • Full, active, and unrestricted Arizona license as a Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience required
  • School Nurse certificate and endorsement through the dept. of Ed (or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire)
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
