The CDL Driver – Mulch Crew Leader is responsible for supervising and working alongside a team of mulch technicians to complete mulch installation and site preparation projects with the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety. This leadership role ensures jobs are completed on schedule and within scope while fostering a positive and productive team environment. The CDL Driver also serves as a frontline representative of the company in client interactions and supports continuous improvement in safety, service, and crew development.

The CDL Driver also serves as a frontline representative of the company in client interactions and supports continuous improvement in safety, service, and crew development.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Operations & Task Execution:
- Perform hands-on mulch duties, including handling mulch materials, soil, gravel, and other site prep components.
- Safely operate company vehicles as a CDL Driver to transport crew members, materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as blowers, wheelbarrows, and rakes.
- Ensure all tasks meet job specifications and safety standards.
- Read site maps or layout plans to guide installation and ensure design accuracy.
- Crew Leadership & Supervision:
- Provide daily direction, delegation, and oversight for mulch technicians.
- Conduct on-the-job training for new crew members and reinforce best practices.
- Lead by example to foster productivity, morale, and a strong work ethic.
- Monitor crew safety, conduct toolbox talks, and report any incidents or concerns.
- Customer and Supervisor Communication:
- Interact professionally with clients on-site, addressing concerns and updates.
- Communicate job status, progress, and crew performance to supervisors regularly.
- Recordkeeping & Reporting:
- Accurately document daily labor hours and material usage.
- Ensure timesheets and job logs are submitted promptly.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Promote and enforce safe work practices, PPE usage, and equipment safety procedures.
- Participate in safety trainings and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience:
- 2–3 years of experience in mulch installation or landscaping.
- 1 years of leadership experience preferred.
- Licensing/Certification:
- Valid CDL A or CDL B license and DOT medical card required.
- Equipment certifications a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of mulch installation techniques and site preparation.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in operating mulch-related tools and machinery.

- You will receive per diem and $50 boot rebate. Boots need to have a safety toe (steel or compose toe). We provide a uniform shirt but not pants. When travelling 2 employees per room and hotel and transportation is covered by the company. The season will start on Feb 1 in Nashville so you will need to travel (company covered) to start the season.
Salary : $24 - $28
