About the Role:
The Technical Product Developer, Footwear will support the Women's, Men's and Kids Footwear departments through technical expertise and organizational skills. This role involves assisting with the technical design process, coordinating sample fittings, and ensuring that all product specifications are accurately captured for the development of footwear collections.
Reports to: Technical Director Footwear
Location: On site, Monday Friday at our NYC HQ
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities of the Job
- Assist with fit samples (Protos) in collaboration with the Sr Technical Manager, ensuring that all footwear samples are accurately measured and reviewed seasonally.
- Perform detailed technical checks on incoming samples, ensuring measurements, construction details, and other key specifications are documented in tech packs.
- Assist in coordinating fit schedules with cross-functional teams, ensuring all necessary steps are completed before and during fittings.
- Take notes during fitting sessions and assist in drafting fit comments, entering feedback, and communicating with Far East partners under manager's direction.
- Maintain daily communication with Far East partners to ensure smooth and efficient technical processes.
- Coordinate and manage sample storage across all stages of development (Proto, Fit, PPS).
- Provide support for daily tasks within the Technical Design team, ensuring deadlines and production schedules are met.
- Attend cross-functional meetings, ensuring relevant technical information is ready for discussion.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- 1-4 years of experience in a technical design role, ideally within footwear manufacturing (wholesale/retail).
- Knowledge of footwear construction, patternmaking, and design development is preferred.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or Footwear Design preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency with PC software including Excel, Word, and PLM software such as Centric PLM, Flex PLM, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle technical initiatives and clearly convey design feedback.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and team-oriented, with an ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Salary: The anticipated base salary is $65k - $80k annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, internal equity, and location.
