Loan Assistant

American Bank is seeking a highly motivated Commercial Loan Assistant. The ideal candidate must have experience providing a wide range of professional support. Must be well organized, flexible and self-directed, with excellent judgment and the ability to anticipate needs. This position will deal with confidential matters, will interact with professionals at all levels. Must have an ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The Commercial Loan Assistant works under the EVP, Loan Officer and is responsible for providing essential, administrative and technical support to commercial lenders, facilitating the loan process and ensuring compliance with regulations while being an integral part of managing the customer’s experience:

• Create commercial loan files, responsible for maintaining department files in an accurate and efficient manner
• Perform procedures related to advances, pay downs, and disbursement process
• Prepare and review documentation of commercial loan closings as needed
• Orders required due diligence items (i.e. Appraisals, Property Inspections, etc.)
• Reviews accuracy and proper use of tracking reports for key information such as Flood Insurance, Property Tax Insurance, UCC’s, etc.
• Liaison with loan officers, customers and third-party professionals (attorneys, appraisers, inspectors, etc.) to close loans in conformity with approved terms and conditions
• Prepares funding information
• Verifies that all pre-closing conditions have been met prior to authorizing funding
• Approves daily overdrafts and determines if it will be charged, if the item will be paid or returned, etc. based on authority limits
• Verify accuracy of wire request with customers prior to sending for approval
• Consult with customers about the financial information needed for accounts and loans
• Track inspection reports to verify accuracy of construction draws.
• Manage exception reports including contacting customers for current financials
• Manage maturing loan list including customer contact regarding loan renewals
• Liaison between customers and other departments
• Supports lending team

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

• Proficient document management skills
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to multitask while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent analytical problem-solving capabilities; ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
• Able to exercise a high degree of confidentiality
• Excellent and proactive calendar management skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and professionalism in dealing with people inside and outside of the company
• Highly energetic and self-starter
• Thoughtful decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills a must
• Be accountable and responsible with ability to learn from mistakes and feedback
• Have a positive attitude

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Banking experience required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or 4-5 years years experience in lieu of degree
• 2 years’ experience with Commercial lending preferred
