Role Description The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in New Bern, NC, responsible for leading the local Building Center’s operations and performance. Day-to-day activities include overseeing sales, construction processes, and customer service to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to company quality standards. The General Manager will manage and develop team members, coordinate with trade partners, and maintain strong relationships with customers throughout the homebuilding process. This role includes monitoring financial performance, implementing company policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and safety requirements. The General Manager will also contribute to local market growth through community engagement, business development initiatives, and maintaining a professional presence that reflects the company’s values.
Qualifications
- Leadership and team management skills, including the ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff.
- Operational and project management skills for overseeing construction timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Customer relationship and communication skills to guide clients through the custom homebuilding process and resolve issues effectively.
- Sales and business development skills, with experience in setting goals, tracking performance, and growing local market presence.
- Financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and interpreting basic financial reports.
- Knowledge of residential construction practices, building codes, and safety requirements; prior homebuilding or real estate experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work on-site full time in New Bern, NC and collaborate with trade partners, inspectors, and other external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with common office and project management software; familiarity with construction management systems is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
