Job Description
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality services to students with special needs in grades K–12. This role requires a collaborative approach to planning and implementing individualized student programs, including specialized instruction, tutorial support, and consultation with general education staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to students with disabilities
- Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet diverse needs
- Monitor and assess student progress using IEP Online
- Collaborate with families, general education teachers, and support staff
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) teaching certification in Special Education
- Required: Full certification (no conditional or provisional licenses)
- Preferred: Endorsement in Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1)
- At least 1 year of experience in a special education teaching role
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
