Position Summary
We are seeking an Employee Benefits / ERISA Attorney with 3–10 years of experience to
join an established and growing practice. The successful candidate will work closely with
the department head to support a strong client base while building relationships and
preparing to take over a significant book of business.
Key Responsibilities
Advise clients on ERISA compliance, fiduciary duties, and plan corrections
Draft and amend plan documents including ESOPs, 401(k)s, and profit-sharing plans
Support M&A transactions with benefits due diligence and plan transitions
Work directly with the department head on client matters
Build and maintain client relationships
Develop toward leading the practice and inheriting a book of business
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
2–10 years of Employee Benefits / ERISA experience
Experience drafting ERISA plan documents (ESOPs, 401k, etc.)
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Interest in long-term practice development and succession
Work Model
Hybrid role requiring in-office presence approximately 1–2 weeks per month in Des Moines,
Iowa. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement or be willing to relocate.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation range of $160,000 – $225,000 with competitive equity potential. Reasonable
billable expectations (1400–1500 hours) and strong work-life balance
