Job Title: Accountant
Reports To: Director of Administration and Finance
Job Type: Part-time (24 hours/week)
Location: Paradise, PA
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting and Auditing
· Reconcile all trial balances on a regular basis for producing monthly financial reports.
· Create a fully reconciled and fully adjusted complete set of financial statements.
· Arrange for annual audit of Ambassadors for Christ's financial records and produce a full set of financial reports, Financial Position, Profit and Loss, Cash Flow, and Functional Expenses, with footnotes for auditor. (Existing financial reports are available and should be adjusted once per year to meet requirements for the annual audit.)
· Produce monthly financial reports for the board and ministry leaders.
· Promote a culture of ethical behavior and accountability within the organization.
2. General Ledger Support
· Prepare and post journal entries under supervision
· Assist with monthly and year-end closings
· Reconcile assigned accounts such as bank, credit card, and petty cash
· Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and depreciation
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable
· Assist in processing vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and credit card reports
· Assist in issuing payments and maintaining records of outstanding bills
· Assist in recording incoming donations, grants, and event revenue
· Assist in preparing invoices and track receivables as needed
4. Payroll Processing
· Collect and review employee timesheets or hours worked
· Prepare and process payroll through payroll software or service provider
· Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll-related journal entries
· Respond to staff payroll inquiries and support year-end reporting (e.g., W-2s, 1099s)
5. Administrative & Compliance Support
· Maintain organized financial and payroll files
· Assist with vendor setup and compliance (e.g., W-9s, contract documentation)
· Support adherence to internal financial controls and nonprofit policies
· Serve as the Human Resource Coordinator, implementing organizational HR policies across all AFC ministries and operations.
6. Accounting Policy & Procedure Compliance
· Understand and follow the organization's accounting policies and procedures
· Apply proper fund accounting practices in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
Basic Requirements:

· Agreement with the organization's Statement of Faith, vision, and mission, and the ability to support and advance them in the workplace.
· A committed Christian with a clear sense of calling to serve in a Christian ministry environment, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and Christ-centered character in professional responsibilities.
· Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Passing all CPA exams is preferred.
· Demonstrated experience preparing fully reconciled and adjusted trial balances and producing complete financial statements with footnotes for annual external audits.
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a goal-oriented manner.
· Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with ministry leaders, staff, and external partners in a respectful and professional manner.
· Demonstrated maturity, discretion, and ethical judgment appropriate for handling confidential financial, payroll, and personnel information within a Christian nonprofit organization.
· Ability to carry out basic human resource administrative duties, including responding to general questions regarding salary and benefits administration and referring specific or complex matters to the Director of Administration and Finance in accordance with organizational policies.
