Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Ambassador Arms Apartments! In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across our facilities. Your expertise will help maintain a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment by performing proactive maintenance, troubleshooting complex issues, and executing repairs promptly. This is a Monday-Friday position with a rotating on call schedule.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, refrigeration units, kitchen equipment, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair appliances, HVAC & appliance technology, refrigeration units, and mechanical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Install new appliances and mechanical equipment following safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Operate company vehicles safely for on-site repairs or equipment deliveries as needed.
- Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration) issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used in compliance with operational procedures.
- Collaborate with team members on construction projects or upgrades requiring mechanical or HVAC expertise while demonstrating leadership qualities.
Qualifications
- Ability to operate construction tools and company vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Proven experience as a service technician with a background in appliance repair, HVAC system repair, refrigeration, or mechanical systems repair.
- Knowledge of schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex equipment.
- Hands-on experience with appliance installation and kitchen equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) practices across various mechanical systems.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with leadership qualities to guide team efforts when necessary.
- Relevant certifications in HVAC & appliance technology are highly desirable; construction experience is a plus.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
This is a Monday through Friday schedule, with a rotating on-call shared with other maintenance technicians.
You will be joining a property management company that has been doing business in the Detroit area for over 40 years and growing. All of our management has been promoted from either the maintenance or leasing staff, which means if you are interested in a career instead of a job, there are opportunities for advancement.
Compensation is based on your experience.
Hourly rate includes quarterly renewal bonuses and annual reviews available.
You must have a valid and current driver's license.
