The Cardiac Medical Billing Clerk is responsible for managing billing operations for cardiology services, ensuring accurate coding, timely claim submission, and proper reimbursement from insurance providers. This role requires strong
attention to detail and familiarity with cardiovascular procedures, diagnostic testing, and payer guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit accurate claims for cardiology services, including stress tests, echocardiograms, vascular
studies, and interventional procedures. - Review patient accounts for completeness and accuracy prior to billing.
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements
- Assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes specific to cardiac services.
- Follow up on denied or unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Post payments and adjustments in a timely manner.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and appeals.
- Work closely with clinical staff to clarify documentation for accurate coding.
- Maintain compliance with federal regulations and payer policies.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries and payment arrangements
Quallifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 1–2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in cardiology.
- Knowledge of cardiac terminology, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
- Proficiency in CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
