Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to manage and oversee payroll functions within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll management systems, accounting principles, and HRIS platforms. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, benefits administration, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Payroll Administrator will play a key part in maintaining the integrity of our financial and human resources data, supporting overall organizational efficiency.
Duties
- Process payroll using various software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, and other accounting or payroll management systems.
- Ensure accurate data entry related to employee hours, benefits, deductions, and tax information.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for general ledger accounting.
- Manage benefits administration including enrollment, changes, and compliance reporting.
- Perform account reconciliation for payroll-related accounts such as accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Assist with non-profit accounting functions if applicable.
- Support HRIS data management and update employee records accordingly.
- Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare reports related to payroll processing, tax filings, and benefits administration for internal use or external agencies.
- Collaborate with finance and human resources teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other organizational functions.
Skills
- Proficiency in payroll software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, Ceridian or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience with accounting software like QuickBooks or other financial management tools.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations related to payroll processing.
- Excellent data entry skills (10 key typing) with high accuracy.
- Ability to perform account reconciliation and analyze financial data effectively.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes and human resources systems (HRIS).
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger accounting.
- Analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and produce detailed reports.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and explaining technical information clearly.
