Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Product Owner with deep experience in the financial services domain. This role focuses on modernizing enterprise-grade advisor billing systems and financial data platforms as part of a large-scale migration and transformation effort.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of product management expertise, data fluency, and technical problem-solving skills, along with the ability to collaborate with executive stakeholders (EVP/SVP level). The person in this role must be comfortable operating without Business Analyst support—able to analyze data independently, document system behavior, and produce artifacts like process diagrams and data maps. Experience with advisor billing is a plus, but a strong finance domain background is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a hands-on Product Owner, fully accountable for story writing, backlog ownership, and cross-team delivery — no dedicated Business Analyst support
- Translate complex financial logic into clear user stories, process flows, and functional requirements
- Create and maintain data mapping artifacts, system diagrams, and visual documentation using Lucidchart, Miro, or Visio
- Work directly with engineering, QA, finance, and operations teams to align system functionality with business goals
- Lead Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives, using JIRA
- Collaborate with data engineers to validate logic, data structures, and end-to-end flows during migration
- Support a large-scale platform migration, handling parallel workstreams and multiple internal/external stakeholders
- Ensure complete and traceable documentation for system handoffs, audit readiness, and data lineage
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in product ownership, product management, or systems analysis within financial services or fintech
- Proven experience working independently with stakeholders to analyze, document, and drive solutions from raw financial data
- Deep experience working with databases, data mapping, structured data analysis, and reporting
- Strong fluency with Agile, JIRA, and roadmap delivery processes
- Proficiency with tools like Lucidchart, Miro, Visio for flow diagrams and system architecture
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate clearly with executive-level stakeholders
- Advisor fee billing experience is a plus
- Finance domain experience is required
