Personal Care Assistant’s that assist in smoking area list of duties and expectations:
- Provide supervision to residents who smoke as deemed necessary by interdisciplinary team
- Maintain all smoking materials for residents who smoke, e.g. cigarettes, pipes, lighters, lighter fluid, etc. Provide smoking materials to residents during smoking times.
- Ensure designated smoking area is clean and well kept.
- Ensure smoking is not permitted while oxygen is in use.
- Ensure presence of an A-B-C type fire extinguisher and smoking blanket in designated smoking area daily. Also ensures ashtrays in use at designated smoking area meet life safety code.
- Empties ashtrays as needed.
- Ensure residents do not share lighted cigarettes with other residents.
- Reports infraction of smoking policy to their supervisor.
- Completes required forms and documents as designated by their supervisor.
