The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses and evaluates the health status of residents and provides care and treatment in accordance with physician orders and standards of practice. Works in a team environment and within scope of practice as defined by State.
Responsibilities & Duties
*Assess residents by physical examination, including pertinent diagnostic testing to determine health status.
*Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
*Monitors resident's condition and communicates to the physician changes in resident's condition, diagnostic test results, etc.
*Communicate to residents, resident representatives and families about changes in their condition, medication, treatments and care plans.
*Assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as helping residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating and mobility.
*Follow infection control protocols to help prevent the spread of infections.
*Collaborate with other members of the nursing team and members of the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans and oversees implementation.
*Maintain accurate and detailed resident records, documenting assessments, medication administration and other relevant care information in compliance with standards of care and company policy.
*Educates residents and their families on health-related issues.
*Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), graduate nurses and other nursing staff, as designated by their supervisor, and provides training, guidance and support.
*Understand and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
