Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Student Support Services, this role is for a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). Provide specialized instruction and services in the area of language and speech assessment and development for eligible students 18 months to 22 years of age. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify students with speech, hearing, and language issues Determine the severity and extent of the issue(s) and the need for enrollment Notify parents, teachers, and administrators as to the result of the screening process and recommendations for service Provide parents, teachers, and administrators with information regarding the speech and language therapy program Implement instructional plans developed by the IEP Team. Evaluate student progress and effectiveness of the therapy program used Develop an effective and efficient schedule in cooperation with the classroom teacher for providing quality service to the student(s) Provide building administrators and teaching staff with information on the development of language training programs for children in regular and special classes Provide the necessary documentation for screening, assessment, and IEP procedures. Monitor compliance for timelines and assure due process Maintain student discipline to insure students benefit as much as possible from therapy sessions Maintain a professional appearance, conduct, and attitude as well as a comfortable and attractive therapy setting Attend staff meetings, workshops, and conferences as necessary Comply with State and Federal Mandates
