Position Summary:

We are seeking an Interior Design Director to lead and elevate the creative and operational direction of our interior design division. This senior leadership role blends design innovation, strategic management, and business development, guiding the interior design practice across a diverse range of residential and commercial projects.

The Interior Design Director will define AED’s design identity, mentor project teams, strengthen client relationships, and ensure that interiors reflect our core values of functionality, sustainability, and aesthetic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Design Leadership

• Define and uphold AED’s interior design vision, ensuring consistent design quality, innovation, and alignment with brand standards.
• Establish and maintain design guidelines, palettes, and brand standards across all project types.

B. Project Oversight

• Lead all phases of interior design—from concept through construction—ensuring design integrity, documentation accuracy, and seamless coordination with architecture and construction teams.
• Review design deliverables for quality, accuracy, and adherence to project goals and budgets.

C. Strategic Planning

• Shape the interior design division’s direction to align with company growth plans, project pipelines, and market trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and integrate new technologies or materials.

D. Team Leadership

• Mentor, motivate, and guide designers and project managers, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented studio culture.
• Oversee staff development through regular feedback, training, and performance evaluations.

E. Governance & Compliance

• Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability requirements.
• Maintain quality control throughout design development and implementation phases.

F. Innovation

• Promote forward-thinking design solutions, incorporating sustainable materials, smart home technologies, and emerging digital design tools.
• Champion the integration of interior design with architectural and construction processes to create cohesive and high-performing spaces.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• Licensed Interior Designer or Registered Architect (preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including leadership on high-end residential, multi-family, or commercial interior projects.
• Strong design portfolio demonstrating concept development, material curation, and refined execution.
• Expertise in sustainable design strategies, building codes, FF&E specification, and project documentation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to balance creative design with technical and operational requirements.
