Monday thru Friday: 7AM-3:30PM
- Rotating days: 2- 8 hr shifts and 1- 4 hr shift per week
- No weekends and no holidays
Position Objective
The Patient Accounts Representative- Insurance is responsible for all aspects of the Insurance position related to the workflow of the department, including customer service and working with Insurance companies to resolve claim issues and patients to resolve billing questions. It is essential that the accounts receivable be kept as low as possible, therefore, it is of utmost importance that the Accounts Representative is as current as possible at all times in terms of claim processing and follow-up of lagging payments.
Essential Responsibilities
- Navigating insurance websites to verify eligibility, adjudication information and coverage issues pertaining to a specific insurance company.
- Read electronic RTE’s (real time eligibility) that come back from the insurance companies and update patient accounts to reflect correct information
- Review, document, and mail refunds to insurance companies and/or patients
- Able to read an Explanation-of-Benefits and explain the claims processing to patients
- Knowledge of a 1500 form and an Uniform Billing form (UB) form
- Maintain contact with client accounts regarding new and old claims
- Reviews and manages workqueues to obtain, identify and verify coverage in a timely manner
- Supply cost-share patients with a claim form and detailed bill, then adding self-pay discount to charges
- Print Professional Billing (PB) claim run out of EPIC daily
- Perform Hospital Billing (HB) claim count daily
- Assist the Reception/Admitting staff when they call with questions on the different types of insurances.
- Responding to patient questions to resolve billing questions and concerns. Forwarding unresolved issues to the appropriate party and documenting all phone calls electronically.
- Providing detailed bills to our Release-of-Information
- Send requested medical records to insurance companies
- Calling on updates for outstanding disputed claims
- Assisting the Billing Team by answering incoming phone calls or mailing appeals as needed

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Administrative Assistance Program or Equivalent Experience
