Monday thru Friday
- 6:00am to 2:30pm
- 7:00am to 3:30pm
- 8:30am to 5:00pm
Weekend & Holiday Rotation
- 7:00am to 3:30pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Approximately every 3rd weekend and 2 holidays per year
Position Objective
The Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for preparing medications for patient use under the direct supervision of the licensed pharmacist in accordance with departmental procedures.

• Prepare IV admixtures-TPN’s, IV piggybacks, IV Oncology drugs, syringes under the supervision of the pharmacist • Prepare STAT IV medications as required and deliver products if required

The Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for preparing medications for patient use under the direct supervision of the licensed pharmacist in accordance with departmental procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
The following description of responsibilities to be performed is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.
IV Therapy
• Prepare IV admixtures-TPN’s, IV piggybacks, IV Oncology drugs, syringes under the supervision of the pharmacist • Prepare STAT IV medications as required and deliver products if required
- Deliver IV’s to various locations within Alomere
- Return all discontinued drug from the nursing unit
- Complete and document daily and monthly cleaning of the IV clean room area
Unit Dose Drug Services
- Fill and document individual patient drug bins on a daily basis per the medication fill list
- Fill and deliver Omnicell drug supplies including narcotic supplies
- Deliver filled patient bins to the inpatient area of the hospital on a daily basis
- Return medication to the pharmacy for discharged patients
- Ensure that no medications are left behind in the patient medication drawer for patients no longer in the room
- Pick up and deliver medication to all areas of the hospital
- Maintain the outpatient physician dispensing areas with an adequate supply of pre-packed medications
- Prepack medications in unit pose packaging using appropriate labeling, recordkeeping is completed for pharmacist review
Recordkeeping
- Complete monthly narcotic inventory both within the pharmacy and at all the Omicell locations throughout the hospital
- Complete monthly nursing unit inspections in conjunction with a licensed pharmacist
- Maintain Omnicell devices with in-date medications
- Complete monthly checks to insure that all outdated medications are removed from the Omnicell and floorstock areas prior to the expiration date
- Complete billing for all medications that require pharmacy billing including: anesthesia records, intradepartmental orders, and drugs picked up and received from outside pharmacies
- Order supplies for the department as required on a daily basis including all items from general stores
- Check in all orders received from outside vendors, place medications received in the proper location, and complete associated paperwork
