This position is supervised by the associate athletics director and supervises the assistant coaches.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – may include, but not limited to the following:
- Lead the men’s and women’s tennis programs in practices, competitions, and off-court development.
- Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes; implement a strategic recruiting plan.
- Manage team operations including practice planning, match scheduling, and travel logistics.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches.
- Scout opponents and develop competitive strategies.
- Monitor academic progress, retention, and eligibility of student-athletes.
- Foster a culture of good sportsmanship and personal accountability.
- Develop and communicate clear expectations to student-athletes regarding performance, behavior, and academic standards.
- Collaborate with support staff in facilities, transportation, and game operations.
- Assist with departmental alumni engagement and community outreach efforts.
- Ensure full compliance with NCAA, MIAA, and institutional rules and policies.
- Participate actively in athletic department meetings, initiatives, and campus-wide events.
- Plan and execute program fundraising efforts.
- Support the mission and values of Alma College and the athletics department.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level or demonstrated success as a head coach at the high school level
- Knowledge of NCAA and MIAA rules and regulations
- Demonstrated organizational skills, event and camp planning, recruiting success, and budget management
- Commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Willingness to actively coach, including on-court participation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes
- Ability to serve as a positive ambassador for Alma College in all interactions
- Availability for evening and weekend work and overnight travel
- Valid driver’s license
- Master’s degree
- Prior coaching experience at an NCAA Division III institution
- Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations
