In this role, you will spearhead all mechanical commissioning operations-spanning equipment start-ups, QA/QC validations, and rigorous Level 4 (L4) and Level 5 (L5) functional performance testing-while overseeing and supporting contractor L0-L3 construction checkouts.

This is a critical, highly mobile engineering role for a commissioning expert who excels at client collaboration and operational performance optimization. You will interface directly with project owners, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure every mechanical, plumbing, life safety, and building automation system operates at peak safety, efficiency, and design intent. If you possess deep expertise in mission-critical mechanical commissioning, we want to hear from you.

L0-L3 Oversight: Oversee, inspect, and support contractor-driven L0 through L3 activities, ensuring robust quality control, component verification, and pre-functional checkouts.
Equipment Start-Up: Direct and monitor the safe start-up, calibration, and integration of complex mechanical plant equipment (e.g., HVAC units, chillers, air handlers, pumps, piping, and building automation controls).
Deficiency Tracking: Identify, document, and track commissioning issues and punch-list items through to complete resolution, ensuring seamless handover to operations teams.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Compliance
Client & Contractor Interface: Act as the primary technical representative interfacing with company clients, project stakeholders, and trade contractors to drive optimal facility outcomes.
Code & Standard Adherence: Ensure all mechanical installations and test procedures strictly comply with ASHRAE guidelines, NFPA codes, TAB (Test, Adjust, and Balance) requirements, and local regulations.
Documentation & Reporting: Prepare accurate commissioning scripts, logs, and final turnover reports documenting system performance against owner project requirements (OPR).

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Sciences, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and progressive field experience).
Experience Baseline:
oMinimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience as a mechanical commissioning specialist across utility infrastructure, life safety, mechanical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
o Minimum of 2-3 years of focused, hands-on experience documenting L2/L3 construction activities and leading L4/L5 functional testing specifically within Data Center environments.
Technical Mastery:
o Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, NFPA codes, and TAB mechanical testing requirements.
oSolid understanding of the commercial/mission-critical construction lifecycle.
Regulatory & Mobility Requirements:
oU.S. Citizenship is strictly required for clearance and facility access.
oMust be able to successfully clear a comprehensive background check.
oAbility to travel up to 95% to active data center job sites nationwide.
Core Competencies: Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills; ability to manage complex site dynamics and drive consensus among multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Attributes
Industry-recognized commissioning certifications (e.g., BCxA, CxA, or equivalent).
Specialized certifications: IR Thermography Level 1 or Level 2, NFPA 70E certification, or OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
Prior hands-on experience utilizing infrared thermography for electrical and mechanical asset diagnostics in mission-critical facilities.
