We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Estimator to join our growing department. This role is ideal for an experienced construction or engineering professional looking to apply their deep technical knowledge and project experience in full lifecycle design and preconstruction projects. The ideal candidate will be an experienced estimator or construction professional with a proven track record of preparing cost estimates, risk assessments, and proposal reports through the planning and design phases. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates in-house using software and estimating programs for Design-Build (DB) and Design-Bid-Build (DBB) projects based on conceptual and schematic design, development, drawings, and construction documents
- Meet with clients and designers to discuss cost implications and justifications
- Provide technical reviews of project constructability design and analysis
- Execute change order analyses and reviews
- Conduct electronic take-offs on various architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural systems
- Travel 10% – typically once a quarter for short durations (2-5 days) after first year
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience preparing cost estimates and conducting takeoffs
- Knowledge of OST, PlanSwift, RSMeans, or other relevant software
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple deadlines and priorities
- Detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred [but not required]
- Bachelor’s degree
- Certified Cost Professional (CCP) Certification
- Experience on design-build teams for commercial and industrial construction projects
- Experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal agencies
