We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / Estimator to join our growing Cost Engineering department. This role is ideal for a dynamic electrical engineering or construction professional looking to apply their technical expertise and field knowledge in full lifecycle design and preconstruction projects. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates in-house using estimating software and programs for Design-Build (DB) and Design-Bid-Build (DBB) projects based on conceptual and schematic design, design development, drawings, and construction documents
- Perform quantity takeoffs for electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, and grounding systems
- Meet with clients, engineers, and designers to discuss electrical cost implications, assumptions, and justifications
- Provide technical reviews of electrical system constructability, design coordination, and value engineering opportunities
- Execute electrical change order analyses, pricing reviews, and scope evaluations
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience preparing electrical cost estimates and performing electrical takeoffs
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods
- Experience with electrical estimating software such as Accubid, Trimble, OST, PlanSwift, or similar tools
- Proficiency with RSMeans or other industry cost databases
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple deadlines and priorities
- Detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
Preferred [but not required]
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) certification
- Experience on design-build teams for commercial, industrial, or federal construction projects
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal agencies
