POSITION OVERVIEW
Controls Engineers work in both an office environment when engineering control systems and on the shop floor in Van Wert Ohio for commissioning and debugging of equipment. The Controls Engineers work closely with the Mechanical Designers, Electrical Designers, and Machine Assembly personnel as required to design systems and develop code for automation projects. They are expected to interface with the customers at both our facility and the customer's facility for Runoff and Machine Acceptance.

- Develop Programming Standards and Code templates to reduce the time of completion of programming projects
- Meet deadlines and take a project from start to finish
- Lead large and small projects both at our facility and at the customer's site
- Design system architecture for machine control systems, including electrical schematics and network diagrams
- Specify and Program Data Collection systems that interface with the PLC/PAC
- Interface Controls Architecture with M.E.S. Systems
- Lead teams of controls engineers for larger projects
- Provide quoting and estimating numbers to the Applications team as needed
- Provide Programming, Commissioning, and debug guidance to junior engineers
- Provide mechanical design input to help produce the best equipment we can and reduce the labor required for completion
- Travel with equipment to customer sites for installation and training
- 5 to 10 years of experience, 10 preferred
- Related degree or equivalent work experience
- Able to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to interface with the customer in a professional manner
- Be considered an expert at using any platform of Automation and logic controllers.
- Be considered an expert at selecting, developing, and implementing vision systems
- Be considered an expert in multiple robot platforms
- Know programming, commissioning, and debug labor hour requirements for any size project
- Must possess Strong Project Management skills as it relates to Controls Engineering of a project
- Must be willing to help train junior engineers and technicians
- Robotics/AMR experience preferred.
