What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Financial Service Clerk position at ALLEN PARISH HOSPITAL DISTRICT NO 3?
JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for greeting all customers/patients, collecting and documenting correct demographics and billing information, and maintaining an orderly flow of patients through the waiting areas. Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:
- Secure and obtain accurate patient demographics/financial information
- Verify patient insurance benefits as well as request co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance
- Cross-train in all registration areas, multi-tasking/organization skills are a must
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, family members and staff
- Adhere to work schedule and demonstrates flexibility to work any and all shifts
- Demonstrates positive attitude as well as ability to be a team player to promote and provide a positive patient experience
- Transition with shift relief and operate switch board functions
- Familiar with offices procedure and office machines
- Make copies of patient outpatient and inpatient packets as necessary
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Two years hospital or clinical experience preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Job Knowledge:
- Knowledge of all insurance payers
- Computer and office equipment knowledge
Skills:
- Communication skills
- Customer relation skills
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Walking between departments and patient rooms
License:
- BLS/CPR certification is required
- CPI/MOAB certification is preferred

- Must adhere to HIPAA regulations according to Allen Parish Hospital Policy, and uphold the Privacy Act law and regulations.
