Commissioning Engineer
Location: Texas
Pay: $55 to $90
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Minimum 6 months
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support testing, start-up, commissioning, and turnover activities on large-scale data center projects in Texas.
This contract role is suited to a commissioning professional with experience across data centers, mission-critical, industrial, commercial, or large-scale MEP construction environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support commissioning activities across electrical, mechanical, controls, and critical infrastructure systems.
- Assist with commissioning planning, scheduling, execution, documentation, issue tracking, and closeout.
- Support Level 1 to Level 5 commissioning, including pre-functional checks, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and client witness testing.
- Work with critical systems including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, transformers, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, BMS/EPMS, controls, and power distribution equipment.
- Review drawings, specifications, commissioning scripts, test procedures, O&M manuals, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with project teams, MEP teams, QA/QC, commissioning agents, vendors, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Track and close commissioning issues, defects, punch lists, and outstanding works to support project turnover.
- Maintain accurate commissioning records, reports, checklists, trackers, and closeout documentation.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer, Cx Engineer, Commissioning Lead, or similar role.
- Experience on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale MEP construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning, testing, start-up, IST, turnover, and closeout processes.
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems including power distribution, generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling systems, BMS/EPMS, and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, schematics, specifications, test scripts, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, reporting, and teamwork skills.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site in Texas for the duration of the contract.
