Duties
- Lead and coordinate congregational singing during worship services, ensuring a lively and engaging atmosphere
- Select, rehearse, and perform a variety of musical pieces that align with the church’s spiritual themes and liturgical calendar
- Collaborate with pastors, choir directors, and other worship team members to plan musical segments for services and special events
- Manage and maintain musical equipment, including instruments, microphones, and sound systems to ensure optimal performance quality
- Organize rehearsals for choir or instrumental groups to prepare for upcoming services or events
- Incorporate elements of theater or theatrical techniques when appropriate to enhance the worship experience and audience engagement
- Foster a welcoming environment for musicians of all skill levels and encourage active participation in worship activities
Requirements
- Proven experience in church or community music settings, with strong leadership skills
- Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument; additional skills in vocal performance or conducting are highly desirable
- Knowledge of various musical genres, including contemporary, traditional, and theatrical styles (such as theater)
- Ability to read sheet music and adapt arrangements as needed
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with church staff and congregation members
- Flexibility to adapt to different service formats, special events, and seasonal themes
- A positive attitude with a passion for inspiring others through music and worship
