Primary Purpose: The Building Services Staff member supports the ministry of Madison Church by providing consistent care for the Square Campus facilities. This role helps ensure that buildings are clean, safe, functional, and welcoming, reflecting Madison Church’s commitment to hospitality.
Accountable to: Square Campus Director of Operations
Hours and Status: Part-time position, approximately 15-20 hours per week; paid hourly. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends based on campus and ministry needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Care and Cleaning
- Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the building, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, window cleaning, and sanitizing restrooms, kitchens, and high-touch areas
- Perform routine and periodic deep cleaning to support ongoing use of the facility
- Monitor and restock cleaning and restroom supplies to ensure readiness for daily and weekly building use
Campus and Operational Support
- Observe and report safety issues or maintenance needs
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning or facility-related needs
- Operate, clean, and store custodial equipment and supplies according to established procedures
Event and Ministry Support
- Assist with setup and teardown of rooms, furniture, and equipment for worship services, meetings, and special events
- Provide access to the building for guests, ministries, and partners, serving as a welcoming and helpful presence and responding to the needs of guests in a way that reflects Madison Church’s commitment to hospitality and care
Outdoor and Seasonal Responsibilities
- Support outdoor maintenance needs such as grounds cleanup, trash removal, and snow or ice removal
- Assist with seasonal tasks to promote safety, accessibility, and a welcoming campus environment
General Responsibilities
- Remove trash and recycling throughout the facility
- Follow safety, security, and cleaning protocols
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of campus operations and ministry needs

Experience Preferences:
- Previous custodial, cleaning, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred but not required
- Experience in a church, school, nonprofit, or community-based setting is a plus
- Willingness to learn proper cleaning methods, equipment use, and safety practices
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to approximately 40 pounds
- Work occurs in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to cleaning products, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions
- Work demands may fluctuate based on building use, seasons, and special events
Pay: From $19.50 per hour
