The position of Intake Therapist will pay $66,560 for unlicensed and $70,480 for licensed Therapists.

Differentials that apply: Bilingual Spanish Speaking Differential: $5000 annually

Additionally, the lifespan compensation range of this position is: Unlicensed Therapist: $66,560- $75,000 and Licensed Therapist: $70,480- $80,000.

Under general supervision of the Director of Intake & Outreach will provide comprehensive mental health services, case management and other related support services to eligible children and their families.

This role's primary purpose is to implement a comprehensive thorough assessment and treatment planning process that are integrated, individualized, and tailored to the community needs under the oversight of the Director of Intake & Outreach.

The Intake Therapist provides clinical assessment interventions designed to reduce mental health impairments, promote client and family safety, and increase family stability for the client and family. The Intake Therapist also participates in outreach and engagement events and helps to complete clinical screenings for urgent triaged referrals. This role promotes family-centered, strengths-based approaches to service delivery that encourage functioning in the school and home environments.

  • Preferrable to have completed BBS hours or about to complete BBS hours and have submitted BBS hours.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support existing agency policies, principles, and mission.
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters of agency operation, personnel, and clients.
  • Under the general oversight of the Director of Intake & Outreach or his/her designee, conduct DMH Intake-Assessment and Clinical Diagnostic Evaluation, provide coordination of treatment planning and implementation, and develop the service plans.
  • Responsible for conducting intake/assessments for all community-based clients including, virtually and office setting
  • Conduct on average between 5-8 intakes per week.
  • Completes clinical screenings for clients deemed to be urgent by intake coordinators.
  • Achieve established service delivery/ productivity expectation of 100% of a 40-hour work week.
  • The Intake Therapist must interface effectively with other agencies and with all levels of agency management/staff, consumers, and families.
  • Provide direct case management interventions as needed.
  • Participate in weekly Utilization Management supervision, monthly clinical supervision, and Evidenced Based Practice group sessions as required.
  • Work closely with case managers, TBS Workers, Behavioral Specialists, and other therapists as available to facilitate implementation of the child/family treatment plan. Maintain positive communication with all agency staff, clients, and visitors.
  • Complete all charting/paperwork within the same day of service delivery and ensure all billable activity is entered on time.
  • Document 100% of activity in compliance with State of California Standards for Medi-Cal, Short-Doyle, EPSDT service delivery.
  • Review all documentation for accuracy.
  • Review reports for accuracy.
  • Attend and participate in all training events focused on service philosophy, efficiency issues, and clinical delivery issues as approved by Program Supervisor.
  • Participate in outcome-oriented data collection for Program Evaluation.
  • Participate in a multi-cultural team approach that is sensitive to the cultural and linguistic needs of the families served.
  • Participate in staff meetings as scheduled by program supervisor.
  • Work hours to meet the needs of the community including evening/weekend hours if necessary.
  • Exercise good judgment in performance of all duties and responsibilities.
  • Other related duties as assigned and approved by the Program Supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients.
  • Maintain positive communications with all agency staff, clients, and visitors.
  • As a mandated reporter, must follow child abuse reporting guidelines and report all suspicions of child abuse and/or neglect.
  • Take on a case load of at least 10-12 clients and provide direct service school, community, telehealth and office base settings.

What You Will Need To Bring

  • Registered AMFT/ACSW/APCC
  • One year or more previous experience with children and families requiring diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning and crisis intervention, as well as providing the various modalities of therapy.
  • Strong communication skills including:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred with this position/role (Additional compensation for proven bilingual skills).
  • Exceptionally strong writing skills are required. Must be able to document in a clear and concise manner and in accordance with DMH and other program standards.
  • Strong commitment to children and families, and a willingness to take the steps necessary to assure their well-being.
  • Knowledge of the L.A. County Department of Mental Health system is a huge plus.
  • Ability to work within administrative and process parameters as required.
  • Willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Must be willing to work in homes, schools, and other non-traditional, community-oriented environments.
  • Master's degree and registration with the Board of Behavior Sciences
