Essential Job Functions:
Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations, history taking, and diagnostic assessments.
- Develop differential diagnoses and formulate treatment plans based on assessment findings.
Treatment and Management:
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
- Provide psychotherapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, and other therapeutic modalities.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and address any side effects or complications related to medications.
Patient Care:
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and management as needed.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in case conferences and team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment outcomes.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, and community resources.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including documentation standards and ethical guidelines.
- Adhere to privacy and confidentiality regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
Professional Development:
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric and mental health care through continuing education and professional development.
- Participate in relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.

Requirements:
Education Requirements:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a focus on psychiatric mental health (PMHNP).
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by a recognized certifying body (e.g., ANCC).
- Current, valid RN and NP licenses in the state of practice.
- National Provider Identification (NPI) number and individual CAQH account
- Federal DEA license in good standing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Proficient in conducting psychiatric assessments and formulating treatment plans.
- Strong clinical skills, including the ability to manage complex psychiatric conditions and perform therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
