Precision Manufacturing Cost Analyst
Location: Milford, CT
Reports to: Vice President of Engineering
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing drawings and specs from the engineering team. You pull historical data, validate material pricing, and build a clean estimate that balances accuracy and speed. Midday, you walk the floor to confirm process steps with production, then align with project managers to make sure the quote fits the budget. In the afternoon, you update the cost database, note a few savings opportunities, and package a proposal that supports our corporate goals. You wrap by sharing insights with the VP of Engineering and planning tomorrow’s priorities.
What you will own
- Develop precise cost models for materials, labor, and production processes from customer specifications and prints.
- Leverage historical data and partner closely with engineering, production, and customer service to refine assumptions and validate routings.
- Extract and analyze details from drawings and specifications to support sound estimating decisions.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to keep project costs accurate and on budget.
- Maintain and continuously improve a living database for material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Assist in preparing proposals, monitor budgets against plan, and ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and highlight risks with practical mitigation recommendations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP of Engineering.
What you bring
- Sharp analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
- Comfort with math and a genuine enthusiasm for working with numbers.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes and estimating preferred.
- Reliable organization and time management in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with SyteLine is a plus.
- Clear communicator and collaborative team player.
Education
Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant estimating or manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply.

- Environment: Office and manufacturing settings.
- Physical Demands: Primarily sitting; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime.
- Travel: Minimal local travel as needed.
