What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher 2026-2027 School Year position at Alexandria Public Schools?

We are seeking for substitute teachers for:
- Early Education
- Elementary
- Secondary
- Transition Center
- Adult Basic Education
- Community Education
Long term substitute teaching opportunities may also be available in those areas.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Minnesota teaching license OR have the ability to obtain one
- Please attach a copy of your MN Teaching License to your online application.
- For guidance on obtaining a short call substitute teaching license, visit MN Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board's (PELSB) Website.
- Must complete a criminal background check and results must be deemed acceptable per the district guidelines.
- Must complete the new hire paperwork for substitutes.
- Must present acceptable documents to verify identification and eligibility to work in the United States.
Next Steps:
Upon receipt of your application, you will receive an email from our HR team within 48 hours. This email will include instructions for authorizing a background check and completing the new hire paperwork. Upon completion of those items, you will be required to visit the District Office to present original copies of your documents to verify your identification and work eligibility.
