Jr. Systems Administrator

Alexander Technology Group is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to support Windows Server administration, VMware environments, and day-to-day IT support. This role offers a mix of server work, troubleshooting, and helpdesk support, along with opportunities to use AI tools to automate routine IT tasks.

Responsibilities

• Create and configure virtual machines in a VMware environment.
• Assist with Windows Server setup, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Support server updates, patching, and routine system checks.
• Troubleshoot issues involving Windows systems, virtual machines, and user access.
• Help manage overflow helpdesk tickets and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Use AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT to help develop scripts, streamline workflows, and automate repetitive IT tasks.
• Review and test AI-assisted scripts and workflows before using them in the environment.
• Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, and support procedures.
  
  

Qualifications

• Foundational experience in IT support with exposure to systems administration.
• Hands-on experience creating or supporting virtual machines in VMware.
• Familiarity with Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting Windows desktops and resolving helpdesk tickets.
• Some practical experience using AI tools to automate an IT task or improve a technical workflow. Claude experience is preferred; ChatGPT experience is also acceptable.
• Basic scripting knowledge, such as PowerShell, is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to balance project work with incoming support requests.
  
  

Compensation ranges between $45-55/hr commensurate with experience.
