What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analyst position at Alexander Chapman?
🚨 Data Analyst / Data Research Opportunity — Leading NYC Hedge Fund 🚨
A leading hedge fund in NYC is looking to hire a highly analytical Data Analyst / Data Research professional to work directly under a Portfolio Manager and embedded investment team. This is a rare opportunity to sit extremely close to the investment process and help shape real investment decisions through data.
The role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-performance environments and wants significantly more exposure to investing and strategy rather than operating within a purely centralized data function.
You’d be working on:
• Consumer & alternative datasets
• Credit card transaction data
• Consumer spending & behavioral trends
• SQL Python-heavy workflows
• Building/scaling data processing infrastructure
• Supporting investment research workflows directly alongside investors
The team already has several datasets onboarded, and this hire will play a key role in optimizing, operationalizing, and expanding how data is leveraged across the investment process moving forward.
Strong interest in profiles coming from highly analytical environments such as hedge funds, investment firms, Point72-style platforms, or similarly data-driven organizations — though exceptional generalist data candidates with strong technical foundations are also encouraged to apply.
Why this role stands out:
• Direct exposure to a PM and investment team
• High ownership and visibility from day one
• Opportunity to influence real investment decisions
• Complex, high-impact data problems with immediate business value
• Fast-moving, intellectually rigorous environment
They’re open on level/seniority, though ideally targeting candidates with 3 years of experience.
