What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asset Based Lending Analyst position at Alexander Chapman?
We're partnering with a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial private credit platform in New York seeking to add an Investment Analyst to its Asset-Based Lending team.
Unlike many larger investment platforms, you'll be given direct exposure to every stage of the investment process, working alongside senior investment professionals while interacting with CEOs, CFOs, private equity sponsors, lenders and advisors. Analysts are expected to take ownership early, with significant client interaction, underwriting responsibility and execution exposure.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite asset-based lending and specialty finance opportunities across a broad range of industries.
- Perform detailed financial statement, collateral and cash flow analysis.
- Build and maintain complex financial models to assess credit quality, transaction structures and downside scenarios.
- Prepare investment memoranda for internal investment committee discussions.
- Participate in due diligence alongside management teams, sponsors, lenders and third-party advisors.
- Support the negotiation, structuring and execution of new investments.
- Monitor existing portfolio companies and lending positions, including covenant compliance, financial performance and risk assessment.
- Attend management presentations, lender meetings and transaction calls.
Ideal Background:
- 1-2 years of Investment Banking experience.
- Coverage or product experience within Leveraged Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Asset Finance, Asset-Based Lending, Structured Finance, Financial Institutions Group or other credit-focused teams.
- Strong financial modelling and credit underwriting capabilities.
- Outstanding analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated interest in private credit and specialty finance investing.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Significant responsibility and ownership from the outset.
- Direct mentorship from senior investment professionals.
- Exposure to live negotiations with CEOs, CFOs and private equity sponsors.
- Opportunity to work across the full investment lifecycle rather than a narrow execution function.
- Highly entrepreneurial culture with accelerated career progression.
- Excellent long-term compensation trajectory and internal growth opportunities.
If you're looking to move into a high-growth private credit platform where you'll develop as an investor far earlier than at a traditional institution, I'd be happy to tell you more.
