Accountant

Albert Lea Electroplating is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Albert Lea, Minnesota. We are looking for a dependable accounting professional who takes pride in accuracy, organization, and follow-through. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, communicating with customers and vendors, solving problems, and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Position Details:

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6am-3pm

Location: Albert Lea, Minnesota

General Responsibilities:

The Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of Albert Lea Electroplating, with primary responsibility for accurate and timely accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.

Essential Duties:

• Prepare accurate customer invoices and maintain up-to-date billing records using QuickBooks.
• Manage accounts receivable and respond to customer billing inquiries.
• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and other accounting issues.
• Accurately enter and process accounts payable invoices.
• Ensure accurate three-way matching of purchase orders, receipts, and supplier invoices.
• Review and reconcile supplier statements.
• Review and reconcile credit card activity and statements.
• Enter journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations as assigned.
• Analyze and resolve discrepancies identified during the matching and reconciliation processes.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes and reporting.
• Maintain and file accounting records as required.
• Assist employees with accounts payable questions, issues, and problem resolution.
• Apply knowledge of sales and use tax transactions and reporting requirements.
• Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, employees, and other personnel.
• Greet and assist vendors, visitors, and customers in a friendly and professional manner, both in person and by phone.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
• Remain flexible and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Experience with QuickBooks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of sales and use tax transactions and reporting.
• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close processes preferred.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
