Plaas Incorporated, a well-established industrial contractor located in Red Wing, Minnesota, is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized professional to join our team as a full-time Staff Accountant. This position will perform accounting functions for two affiliated companies and work closely with the CFO.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities for two affiliated companies, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
• Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, customer receipts, and related documentation.
• Perform monthly bank, account, and general ledger reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules and provide accurate and timely financial information to management.
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes through preparation of financial data, analysis, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation, schedules, and account support.
• Maintain and monitor internal accounting controls and procedures to promote accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity.
• Maintain fixed asset records, including acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations.
• Assist with banking and cash management activities, including bank reconciliations, cash monitoring, and related financial records.
• Assist with business insurance administration, including policy documentation, renewals, and related financial records.
• Provide accounting and financial support to the CFO, including special projects, financial analysis, reporting, and other ad hoc requests.
• Assume additional responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to, accounting and other duties that may transition to this position over time.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2 years of accounting experience; 3 years preferred. Experience in a construction or industrial environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and preparation of financial statements.
• Knowledge of internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Experience with Foundation Software or other construction accounting/ERP software is a plus.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, research issues, and implement appropriate resolutions.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Position Details:

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required based on business needs.

Work Location: In person at our Red Wing, MN location

Salary: $65,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and skills.
