DESCRIPTION
The Collection Systems Maintenance Foreperson is responsible for supervising and performing inspections,
general repairs, preventative maintenance and emergency work activities at the District’s wastewater
treatment facilities with a focus on the maintenance of sewage collection systems. Duties include
independently planning and performing a variety of tasks required to maintain sewer piping systems,
manholes, regulating chambers, flow metering pits and similar infrastructure. Supervision is exercised over
the work of collection systems mechanics and subordinate maintenance staff assigned to tasks. The
Collection Systems Maintenance Foreperson also assists in general maintenance, repair, and facility
support activities within the District’s two wastewater treatment facilities. Work is performed under the
general supervision of the Permit Compliance Manager and Chief of Maintenance with leeway allowed to
exercise independent judgment in carrying out details of work. Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school, possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years’
experience in the maintenance of sewer collection systems.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Possession of a valid CDL driver’s license issued by New York State at the time of appointment and

of Wastewater Collection Systems, Volume 1 and Volume 2 courses within one (1) year of
appointment.
