Albany Box Company is a locally owned packaging manufacturer that has been serving customers throughout the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years. We design and manufacture custom shipping crates, industrial packaging, and protective solutions for customers in a variety of industries.

As our company continues to grow, we are looking to add dependable, safety-minded individuals to our Wood Shop team.

This is an entry-level position with opportunities to learn valuable woodworking, manufacturing, and production skills. We are willing to train the right candidate, but applicants should have basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to work accurately with measurements, shop drawings, and production instructions.

Position Summary

Crate Builders manufacture custom wood shipping crates and industrial packaging products using lumber, plywood, hand tools, and production equipment. Team members work both independently and with others to build high-quality products that meet customer specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Build custom wood crates, pallets, and shipping containers according to shop drawings and work orders

• Read and interpret tape measurements, cut lists, and production drawings

• Measure, cut, assemble, and fasten wood components accurately

• Safely operate saws, pneumatic nailers, and other shop equipment

• Inspect finished products to verify customer requirements are met

• Maintain a clean and organized work area

• Follow company safety procedures and quality standards

• Work cooperatively with team members while also being able to work independently when needed

• Assist with loading, staging, and other shop duties as required

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to accurately read a tape measure

• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals

• Ability to follow written instructions and shop drawings

• Dependable attendance and punctuality

• Strong attention to detail and quality

• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

Preferred

• Previous woodworking, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse experience

• Experience operating power tools or production equipment

• Forklift experience (not required)

• $21.75/hr after completion of 90 days
