What You'll Do
- Provide and maintain effective customer service and satisfaction.
- Delegate work assignments among team members and assist them with resolving customer shipment-related issues.
- Act as a role model for the department and address any team member’s issues with the Brokerage manager.
- Train team members and assist with any work-related questions.
- Ensure team members comply with corporate policies and meet company performance standards.
- Address team members’ concerns with the brokerage manager.
- Assist with team members’ and managers’ workload in their absence.
- Perform duties under general supervision and report any issues to the manager.
- Process Customs Brokerage for air and ocean shipments.
- Data entry and processing of various import-related documentation for submission to U.S. Customs and PGAs (Participating Government Agencies).
- Follow up on Customs matters and resolve problems.
- Answer both customer inquiries and inter-company inquiries.
- Handle remote filings.
- Classify goods in the harmonized tariff schedule (broad range of commodities).
- Perform other related duties and projects as requested or assigned by manager and supervisors.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Customs Brokerage for both air and ocean shipments.
- Excellent leadership skills, such as being approachable and able to train others.
- Must be a team player, proactive, and have a flexible attitude.
- Ability to exercise a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Customs Brokerage software; experience working with Cargowise is a plus.
- Customs Brokerage license is preferred.
