About the Employer
The Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) leads with a student-centered vision, innovating in the classroom and building safe and supportive community schools. We collaborate and partner with local, county, and state agencies to address challenges students face. We are looking for individuals who can enact our vision: equipping the most vulnerable students and those who serve them with the tools to thrive. Join our team as we reimagine services to more holistically support students and erase the predetermination of failure for children, especially Alameda County’s most marginalized youth.
Job Summary
Job Summary
Substitute Teachers work on an on-call, as-needed basis. ACOE operates alternative education programs for middle school and high school students. The teachers provide educational programs in the court schools, independent studies programs, infant program, and parenting teens program. Under the general direction of the Principal, Substitute Teachers instruct students in a wide range of subjects including but not limited to English, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, and electives. These subjects may be taught in a “self-contained’ or in a “departmentalized” structure. County school settings require a teacher to be able to shift from a departmentalized structure of teaching one or two subject areas, to teaching six subjects to one class, as needed by the program. Applications will be screened on an as-needed basis.
