Job Summary
This position resides in the Whole Child Programs department, delivering targeted physical therapy services across school settings to enhance students’ mobility, strength, and physical access to their educational programs. This role partners with school teams to adapt environments and activities, promoting safe participation and independence throughout the school day. Requirements / Qualifications
THE POSITION: The Physical Therapist serves in an itinerant capacity, providing services to students with exceptional needs across school districts served by the Alameda County Office of Education, based on assigned caseload and student needs. This position requires regular travel between multiple school sites throughout the workweek. Caseload assignments and service locations are subject to change based on enrollment and programmatic need. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with organizational policy for required travel between assigned sites. This job reports to Assigned Administrator. LOCATION: Primarily New Haven USD, San Leandro USD, Alameda USD and Emery USD. (May include other districts in Alameda County as needed.) TYPICAL DUTIES: Provides physical therapy services to students with exceptional needs in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Assesses and evaluates students’ functional abilities related to educational participation, including gross motor development, mobility, posture, balance, strength, and access to the school environment. Participates in Student Study Team (SST) and IEP meetings; provides input regarding eligibility, services, goals, and placement. Develops physical therapy goals and objectives and implements individual and group interventions aligned with IEPs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Valid Physical Therapist license issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California required. Experience: Five (5) years of work-related experience. Experience working in a school district is preferred. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
