Job Summary
This position resides in the Whole Child Programs department, primarily training and supervising Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) across school sites to ensure the consistent and ethical implementation of behavior intervention plans. This role uses data-driven practices to monitor fidelity, provide coaching, and collaborate with educational teams to strengthen behavioral supports and student outcomes. Requirements / Qualifications
THE POSITION: The Itinerant, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) shall report directly to the Executive Director of Special Education Innovation. They serve in an itinerant leadership capacity, supporting students with exceptional needs across school districts served by the Alameda County Office of Education. This role is responsible for leading the planning, design, implementation, and monitoring of positive behavior interventions and supports across multiple schools and districts. The position includes providing direct support, evaluation, and behavior plan development for students receiving special education and related services through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This position requires regular travel between school sites to provide coaching, consultation, and direct support. Work locations and assignments are subject to change based on student, site, and programmatic needs. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with organizational policy for required travel between assigned sites. Embedded throughout the work, this role builds staff capacity through professional development, coaching, and consultation, and is pivotal in fostering inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environments. This job reports to Assigned Administrator.
LOCATION: Primarily New Haven USD, San Leandro USD, Alameda USD and Emery USD. (May include other districts in Alameda County as needed.) TYPICAL DUTIES: Leads and oversees the implementation of positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and other evidence-based practices across multiple school sites. Observes, consults, and supports the development of tiered behavioral interventions at the student, classroom, and site levels. Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develops, monitors, and revises Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Provides direct behavioral support services, including modeling, coaching, and intervention, to strengthen classroom and site-based programming. Coordinates, develops, and monitors systems for behavior support, including communication structures with staff and families. Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Certified BCBA required. Five (5) years of related experience supporting youth, families, and/or school staff, at a school, county, district office, and/or nonprofit organization and/or related functions in a school setting preferred. Three (3) years of leadership experience working in a supervisory role preferred. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
