What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time School Crossing Guard position at Alachua County Sheriff's Office (FL)?
JOB Specialized work involving the safety of school children in their endeavor to cross busy roadways during school hours at peak traffic times. School Crossing Guards (SCG) are part-time employees that only report to work on days in accordance with the School Board of Alachua County School Year Calendar. During the summer the SCG might be asked to work summer school if their assigned school participates in a summer school program.
Employees assigned to this classification report to the SCG & FST Supervisor. Performance is evaluated through conferences, observation, and appropriate employee performance appraisals. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

- Cross children only when the traffic is clear by taking advantage of gaps in the flow of traffic or creating gaps in traffic in order to safely cross children when conditions are extremely congested
- Monitor the flow of traffic and report all unsafe conditions to their supervisors
