The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM), located in Dothan, Alabama, is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Academic Clinician in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine to join our Taylor and Ashford clinics. This role combines primary care practice with hands-on teaching in a rural health setting.
Job Description
Position Overview
Provide comprehensive primary care while serving as a clinical educator for osteopathic medical students during their Rural Health rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered primary care in clinic settings
- Precept and teach medical students during Rural Health rotations
- Create and deliver didactic educational content
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to improve clinical skills
- Mentor and advise medical students
- Participate in interviewing prospective DO students
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support ACOM’s academic mission
- Utilize a half-day per week for administrative responsibilities
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree (DO preferred)
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Eligible for Alabama medical licensure
- Strong commitment to medical education and student development
