Position Summary: The Assistant/Associate Professor is primarily responsible for the educational development of ACOM students. Individuals in these positions work both in the classroom and in out of classroom settings to develop and disseminate technical/scientific knowledge to ACOM students to motivate them toward their full professional attainment in the medical field. The individuals in these positions are under supervision of their Department Chair.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate with the Chair of OPP and with the Director of Clinical OPP Services to manage the scheduling, supervision, and training of ACOM students in the OPP lab.
Oversee the teaching assignments of OPP faculty and OPP Fellow Scholars.
Teach students and fellows in clinical setting in one or more Southeast Health ACOM Clinics, while providing ONMM care to patients
Serve as OPP co-course director for pre-clinical curriculum (OMS I and OMS II). This will include formal lectures, table-top training in ONMM, and assessments through practicals and quizzes. Participate in student advising, applicant interviews, committee service, and other activities that enhance student experience and strengthen the ACOM brand.
Provide input and represent ACOM in the development of osteopathic
recognition for graduate medical education (GME) programs within our clinical network.
Secondary Role: Assistant/Associate Professor of Osteopathic Principles and Practice

The individuals in these positions are under supervision of their Department Chair.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates, develops and delivers course material to ACOM students in a particular scientific discipline;
- Contributes to the learning of medical students, graduate students, interns and residents through classroom teaching as well as in one-on-one out of class situations;
- Serves in leadership and membership capacities on college and faculty committees;
- Participates in professional and scientific meetings to further individual knowledge and to contribute to the development of other professionals;
- Prepares and delivers presentations to other professionals at ACOM and during local/regional/national professional and scientific meetings;
- Supervises graduate students, student workers and research assistants.
- Evaluates student progress in learning appropriate medical knowledge. Communicates these evaluations to the student and administrative/faculty members as appropriate; and
- Actively pursues scientific research or other scholarly activity in one or more areas of scientific study;
- Publishes results of scientific research or other scholarly activity in professional journals for a particular area of study. (Note: Faculty can perform scholarly activity other than research to satisfy their responsibility such as author a book, chapter, or manual; produce educational computer software, teaching models, etc.).
