The Workshop Specialist, Robotics & 3D Printing in Boston plays a hands-on role in supporting advanced fabrication and research initiatives. This position focuses on operating and maintaining a wide range of digital fabrication tools, with a primary emphasis on robotics and additive manufacturing. The Specialist will be responsible for programming robotic systems, developing end-of-arm tooling, ensuring safety protocols, and supporting 3D printing workflows. Working closely with internal research teams and external residents—including startups, academics, and industry leaders—the role contributes to innovation in design and making. This in-person role also includes maintaining workshop operations, improving processes, and ensuring equipment reliability within a highly collaborative and experimental environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and program robotic systems, including building end-effectors and ensuring safe operation.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot 3D printers and other digital fabrication tools in the workshop.
- Collaborate with Research and Resident teams to support design, prototyping, and fabrication projects.
- Maintain a safe and organized workshop, including equipment upkeep, material restocking, and cleanliness.
- Contribute to innovation and process development, improving workflows, tooling, and fabrication techniques.
- Hands-on experience with robotics systems (programming, tooling, safety).
- Proficiency in 3D printing technologies, both polymer and metal.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose/repair digital fabrication tools.
- Ability to work on-site in Boston and engage in hands-on workshop tasks daily.
- Experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments, supporting research or prototyping teams.
